Jambojet, Kenya’s leading low-cost airline, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Services Engineer specializing in Planning and Records to join their dynamic team in Nairobi. About the Role:
Reporting to the Head of Technical Services, the Technical Services Engineer – Planning and Records will be responsible for developing and defining engineering and planning standards within their discipline for Jambojet and supported fleets. The primary focus will be on optimizing airline product cost while maintaining exemplary safety standards, a critical balance in the competitive low-cost carrier market.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Monitor and coordinate maintenance planning and scheduling activities to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations in compliance with regulations
2. Define work scopes for ‘C’ checks and create heavy maintenance planning packages
3. Conduct short-term and long-term maintenance forecasts to optimize resource allocation
4. Develop and implement training programs for staff within the technical services section
5. Define technical standards for the section to optimize aircraft product cost of ownership and safety
6. Coordinate technical records data capture, storage, and reporting activities for timely and accurate planning and reporting
7. Oversee the development of customized Minimum Equipment Lists (MELs) and Flight Test manuals to meet local authority requirements
8. Undertake maintenance program development (AMP), implementation, and revision
9. Manage and control aircraft configuration changes, ensuring compliance with type certificate and regulatory requirements
10. Represent technical services in inter- and intra-departmental forums
11. Evaluate new technical maintenance facility capability development needs and manage related projects
12. Prepare work scopes for Engine/Propeller/APU/component Shop Visits
13. Develop and implement engine stagger programs and removal plans in collaboration with the planning division
14. Assist with Entry Into Service (EIS) project plans and preparation of aircraft delivery packages
15. Generate various reports, including but not limited to Hard Time (HT) Reports, Landing/Departure (LDND), and Component Removal/Installation (R/I)
Requirements:
1. Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university in Mechanical, Aeronautical, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or equivalent field
2. Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a technical services engineer in the aviation industry
3. Detailed knowledge of KCAA/EASA/FAA regulations and Jambojet engineering procedures
4. In-depth knowledge of aircraft systems and maintenance processes
5. Successful completion of a full type course on Jambojet fleet aircraft (advantageous)
6. Familiarity with analytical software used in aircraft maintenance planning
7. Strong team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
8. High level of integrity and safety consciousness
9. Demonstrated passion for aviation maintenance and engineering
10. Ability to demonstrate agility in responding to changing demands
11. Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to operational excellence
12. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and maintenance management software systems
13. Experience with reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) principles (preferred)
14. Knowledge of lean maintenance practices and continuous improvement methodologies
15. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and aircraft maintenance manuals

Additional Responsibilities:
16. Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to ensure all maintenance activities meet or exceed regulatory standards
17. Participate in root cause analysis for technical incidents and develop corrective action plans
18. Liaise with aircraft and component manufacturers to resolve technical issues and improve maintenance procedures
19. Contribute to the development of the annual maintenance budget and monitor costs throughout the year
20. Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies in aircraft maintenance and incorporate relevant innovations into Jambojet’s processes
21. Mentor junior engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the technical services team
