Kenblest Group, a leading manufacturing and retail company in Kenya, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Finance to join their team in Thika. Salary: Up to KES 400,000 per month
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
Reporting To: Finance Director
Work Schedule: Monday to Saturday, 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM
About the Position:
The Head of Finance will play a crucial role in shaping the financial strategy and ensuring the achievement of Kenblest’s financial objectives. This position requires a seasoned professional who can oversee all aspects of financial management, from day-to-day operations to long-term planning and analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Strategy and Management:
- – Develop and implement sound financial strategies, policies, and procedures
- – Oversee management accounting, general ledger management, and regulatory reporting
- – Lead forecasting and budgeting processes
- – Manage accounts payable and receivable operations
- – Facilitate annual and periodic internal and external audits
- – Oversee taxation and treasury functions
2. Reporting and Analysis:
- – Prepare monthly financial and performance analysis for multiple entities within the group
- – Produce accurate and timely budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses
- – Review and manage accruals and allocations
- – Provide high-quality, business-focused advice on cash management and management accounts
3. Team Leadership:
- – Manage the accounts team, providing guidance and feedback
- – Implement performance management systems
- – Take charge of all Finance, Accounts, and Taxation matters
4. Operational Finance:
- – Review receivables, payables, bank, cash, and iTax entries
- – Manage bank treasury functions, including bank liaison and cash flow management
- – Utilize SAP for general ledger data analysis on an accrual basis
- – Oversee profit/cost center accounting for monthly management accounts
- – Manage company assets and maintain related records
5. Compliance and Auditing:
- – Review all control accounts, reconciliations, provisions, and write-offs
- – Ensure accuracy of prepayments, accruals, deferred income, and related accounts
- – Perform month-end closing activities and reconciliations
- – Collaborate with HR on payroll data review and upload
- – Prepare for and lead annual audits and KRA (Kenya Revenue Authority) audits
- – Coordinate regular internal audits, including petty cash accounts
Requirements:
- – Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- – Professional qualification: CPA, ACCA, or equivalent
- – Minimum 10 years of work experience in finance, with at least 3 years in a senior accountant role or similar
- – Experience in external audits, month-end close reports, account reconciliations, and statutory reporting
- – Strong analytical skills and ability to work independently
- – Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Excel and SAP
- – Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- – Ability to meet tight deadlines and achieve clear goals
- – Leadership experience in managing and developing finance teams
Preferred Qualifications:
- – Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration
- – Additional certifications in financial management or leadership
- – Experience in the manufacturing or FMCG sectors
- – Knowledge of Kenyan tax laws and regulations
- – Proficiency in data visualization and financial modeling tools
