
International Potato Center - CGIAR
The International Potato Center (CIP), a member of CGIAR, is seeking an experienced Finance & Administrative Consultant to support their operations in Tanzania while working from their regional office in Nairobi, Kenya.
Position Overview
This consultancy role focuses on providing critical financial and administrative support for CIP’s projects in Tanzania, particularly in the Mwanza region. The position will help manage the increased workload and ensure smooth operational support between the regional office and project implementation sites.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management
- – Execute financial transactions in compliance with Center policies
- – Maintain detailed and accurate transaction records
- – Process and review payment requests within established turnaround times
- – Support month-end closure procedures with precision and timeliness
Travel Administration
- – Process and review travel advance requests
- – Verify travel liquidations for policy compliance
- – Ensure proper documentation of travel-related expenses
- – Monitor and track travel-related financial activities
Documentation & Compliance
- – Verify completeness of supporting documentation for all transactions
- – Maintain comprehensive filing systems for financial records
- – Ensure adherence to organizational policies and procedures
- – Review and validate invoices, receipts, delivery notes, and contracts
Procurement Support
- – Collaborate with logistics team and hosting center
- – Assist Principal Investigator with procurement processes
- – Ensure compliance with procurement policies
- – Monitor vendor relationships and documentation
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
- – Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- – Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience
- – Demonstrated expertise in financial management and administration
- – Experience with international development organizations preferred
Skills & Competencies
- – Excellent English writing and communication skills
- – Strong ability to work with multidisciplinary teams
- – Advanced proficiency in financial management systems
- – Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
Technical Knowledge
- – Proficiency in financial software and systems
- – Strong understanding of accounting principles
- – Experience with donor-funded project management
- – Knowledge of international development sector practices
