Africa International University, a private Chartered International Christian University located in Karen, Nairobi, is seeking a highly motivated Accounts Assistant to join their Finance Department. Reporting to the Senior Accountant, this role will contribute to the strategic and responsible financial management of the university.
About the Role:
As the Accounts Assistant at Africa International University, you will provide professional accounting services to ensure timely, dependable, and accurate information for decision-making. Your main responsibilities will include managing bank reconciliations, invoicing and receipting, monitoring cash collections, and assisting with various financial tasks across the university.
Key Responsibilities:
- – Prepare bank reconciliations for all banks monthly, as per applicable deadlines
- – Invoice, receipt, and mail tenant, staff, and other debtor statements
- – Invoice, receipt income, and post expenses for the university restaurant
- – Prepare approved payments for the restaurant and generate monthly reports
- – Monitor and reconcile daily cash collections for the restaurant sales
- – Review the petty cash for the restaurant
- – Assist in student fees issues and other matters by other stakeholders
- – Assist in student registration and exam clearance
- – Monitor cash imprest paid out to ensure compliance with finance policy
- – Monitor accounts receivable and ensure they are settled within agreed timelines
- – Prepare necessary journal entries and obtain/file all bank statements
- – Maintain up-to-date records of all Kijiji Resort M-PESA transactions
- – Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s objectives
Requirements:
- – Degree in Business with an Accounting option, with at least one year of experience in a similar position
- – CPA qualifications will be an added advantage
- – Excellent grasp of computer applications, especially Microsoft Excel
- – Experience working with an accounting system
- – Versatile and willing to take up any assignments within the department
- – Good communication skills and interpersonal relationships
- – Attention to detail and accuracy
- – High integrity and good morals in line with the Christian values of the university
