The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC)

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) is hiring for the position of Assistant Director, Information & Communication Technology. KNEC is a state corporation mandated to conduct school and post-school examinations within Kenya.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • – Provide leadership in formulating and implementing ICT strategies
  • – Ensure adherence to ICT policies, procedures, and standards
  • – Oversee ICT programs and activities
  • – Manage, coordinate, and supervise ICT functions
  • – Establish mechanisms for disaster recovery and business continuity
  • – Draw ICT budgets and procurement plans
  • – Coordinate systems development, implementation, and maintenance
  • – Liaise with users to ensure their ICT needs are met
  • – Review and evaluate feasibility studies and reports for implementation
  • – Supervise and manage ICT projects within planned time and budget
  • – Coordinate information systems security audits and recommend improvements
  • – Prepare work plans, conduct staff performance appraisals, and submit reports
  • – Develop and implement staff capacity-building measures
  • – Facilitate procurement of ICT equipment and services

Requirements:

  • – At least 10 years of relevant work experience, with 4 years at the management level
  • – Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • – Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, ICT, Electronics Engineering, or related field
  • – Certifications: CCNA, MCSE, MCSD, CISA, and Oracle certification
  • – Management course lasting at least 4 weeks
  • – Demonstrated merit in work performance
  • – Membership in a professional body
  • – Proficiency in computer applications
  • – Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution
