Amref Health Africa is hiring a Clinical Officer to support the implementation of integrated HIV/RMNCAH & FP and OVC service delivery interventions in targeted health facilities. Amref Health Africa is the largest African-based international health development organization, implementing over 150 programs and directly reaching more than 12 million people across 35 African countries.
Job Purpose:
The Clinical Officer will report to the facility In-Charge and Project Officer, Imarisha Jamii. They will be responsible for providing clinical HIV/AIDS services to clients, including pediatric and adult HIV care and treatment, TB/HIV, and PMTCT. The incumbent will work closely with other service providers to ensure the quality of care and support is sustained as defined by the MOH service quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Support:
- – Provide quality clinical HIV services to clients at the CCC/ART/MCH as per national guidelines and standards
- – Support other service providers in recommending treatment, care for opportunistic infections, and initiation of antiretroviral treatment (ART)
- – Mentor service providers attending to HIV-infected adults, children, and pregnant or breastfeeding women
- – Liaise with community staff to address defaulter tracing, HIV prevention, and social determinants of health
- – Strengthen linkages and referrals within and between health facilities
- – Ensure quality of care for all patients and appropriate documentation
- – Support HIV/TB and HIV/MNCH service integration
- – Strengthen data reviews and use for decision-making
Capacity Building:
- – Work with SCHMTs to facilitate capacity development for healthcare workers through mentorship, on-the-job training, and CMEs
- – Provide client information, training, and counseling
- – Monitoring, Evaluation, and Documentation:
- – Support HIV/RMNCAH/FP/OVC data tracking and capturing service delivery data in relevant MOH tools
- – Support preparing monthly facility work plans and progress reports on indicator performance
- – Support documentation of best practices and lessons learned
Partnership and Networking:
- – Liaise with relevant partners, stakeholders, and collaborators at the Sub-County and facility level in implementing integrated services
Qualifications and Experience:
- – Diploma or Degree in Clinical Medicine
- – Registration with the Clinical Officers Council
- – HIV/TB training is an added advantage
- – Demonstrated training and competence in HIV Prevention, Care & Treatment/PMTCT
- – Competent in developing and implementing work plans, monitoring, evaluation, and report writing
- – Computer literate, particularly in MS Office
- – Proficiency in written and spoken English and Kiswahili
- – Ability to conceptualize and understand program needs
- – Minimum of 2 years’ experience with direct involvement in patient care, especially in HIV Prevention, Care & Treatment/PMTCT
- – Experience working with government or donor-funded programs is an advantage
- – Experience working at health facility and community levels
- – Experience implementing projects involving diverse partners, consortiums, and operations
- – Local experience working in Turkana county is an added advantage
