Mombasa County is seeking a dedicated Clinical Officer specializing in Oncology to join their healthcare team. This position offers an opportunity to make a significant impact in cancer care within one of Kenya’s largest healthcare facilities.

Position Overview:

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive oncological care to patients, working alongside a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals in a dynamic hospital environment.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • – Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery from a recognized institution
  • – Higher Diploma in Oncology
  • – Minimum of two (2) years’ experience working in a busy Oncology Center
  • – Valid registration certificate from the Clinical Officers Council of Kenya
  • – Current practicing license
  • – Certificate in Computer Application Skills from a recognized institution

Key Responsibilities:

1. Patient Care Management:

  • – Conduct thorough patient assessments and develop comprehensive care plans
  • – Implement and evaluate oncology interventions
  • – Monitor and document patient progress and treatment outcomes

2. Treatment and Support:

  • – Provide specialized oncology services, including Integrated Management of Oncology Illnesses (IMCI)
  • – Deliver patient education and counseling on various aspects of cancer care
  • – Facilitate patient admissions and develop appropriate discharge plans

3. Clinical Operations:

  • – Maintain accurate and detailed patient records
  • – Ensure proper documentation of all medical procedures and treatments
  • – Coordinate with other healthcare providers for optimal patient care
  • – Make appropriate patient referrals when necessary

4. Quality and Safety:

  • – Maintain a clean and safe clinical environment
  • – Adhere to hospital protocols and safety guidelines
  • – Participate in quality improvement initiatives

5. Data Management:

  • – Collect and compile clinical data
  • – Contribute to departmental reports and statistics
  • – Maintain patient confidentiality and medical records
