Mombasa County is seeking a dedicated Clinical Officer specializing in Oncology to join their healthcare team. This position offers an opportunity to make a significant impact in cancer care within one of Kenya’s largest healthcare facilities.
Position Overview:
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive oncological care to patients, working alongside a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals in a dynamic hospital environment.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- – Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery from a recognized institution
- – Higher Diploma in Oncology
- – Minimum of two (2) years’ experience working in a busy Oncology Center
- – Valid registration certificate from the Clinical Officers Council of Kenya
- – Current practicing license
- – Certificate in Computer Application Skills from a recognized institution
Key Responsibilities:
1. Patient Care Management:
- – Conduct thorough patient assessments and develop comprehensive care plans
- – Implement and evaluate oncology interventions
- – Monitor and document patient progress and treatment outcomes
2. Treatment and Support:
- – Provide specialized oncology services, including Integrated Management of Oncology Illnesses (IMCI)
- – Deliver patient education and counseling on various aspects of cancer care
- – Facilitate patient admissions and develop appropriate discharge plans
3. Clinical Operations:
- – Maintain accurate and detailed patient records
- – Ensure proper documentation of all medical procedures and treatments
- – Coordinate with other healthcare providers for optimal patient care
- – Make appropriate patient referrals when necessary
4. Quality and Safety:
- – Maintain a clean and safe clinical environment
- – Adhere to hospital protocols and safety guidelines
- – Participate in quality improvement initiatives
5. Data Management:
- – Collect and compile clinical data
- – Contribute to departmental reports and statistics
- – Maintain patient confidentiality and medical records
