The Coalition for Digital Africa aims to develop local Internet infrastructures to support Africa’s digital economy. We are seeking a candidate for the role of Coalition for Digital Africa Secretariat, reporting to the VP, Global Stakeholder Engagement, Africa. This role is responsible for executing the Coalition’s strategic and tactical objectives, communications, and operations, based in ICANN’s regional office in Nairobi, Kenya.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
- – Manage day-to-day operations of the Coalition, including regular communications with participants and partners.
- – Develop and implement operational procedures.
- – Plan and execute engagement activities with stakeholders.
- – Analyze local and regional developments and create reports and communications.
- – Support development and execution of communications plans; coordinate updates to the Coalition website.
- – Coordinate and support communications across participants.
- – Support recruiting and onboarding of new participants.
- – Maintain favorable relations with regional media, shareholders, employees, and the public.
- – Strengthen stakeholder engagement, specifically with government, business, technical, and civil society.
- – Work closely with ICANN org’s cross-functional team supporting the Coalition.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
- – Ability to read, write, and converse in at least one regional language other than English.
- – Knowledge of the Internet, Domain Name System, and common related issues.
- – Proven ability to communicate complex information verbally and in writing.
- – Strong project management skills.
- – Ability to work in a global environment with diverse cultures.
- – Ability to work independently.
- – Excellent communication skills.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- – Bachelor’s Degree required; study in International Relations, Policy, Law, International Business, or technical fields desired.
- – Minimum eight (8) years of experience in an international legal, governmental, and/or multi-stakeholder environment.
- – Prior experience with project and program management.
- – Prior experience at senior level in government preferred.
- – Prior international experience strongly preferred.
- – Fluent in English; fluency in other official United Nations languages preferred.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
- – Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally.
- – Work is performed in a normal office environment with some exposure to background noise.
- – Willingness and ability to work remotely, including virtual meetings in different time zones.
- – Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
