Save the Children, a leading global nonprofit dedicated to improving children’s lives, is seeking a talented Communications Officer to join their team in Kenya. This dynamic role will play a crucial part in amplifying the impact of the organization’s programs, with a focus on the SC South Korea MNCH Project.
Responsibilities of the Kenya Communications Officer
As the Communications Officer, you will be responsible for:
- – Collecting impactful case studies, stories, and multimedia assets to showcase the success of the MNCH project
- – Producing high-quality photo and video content to support digital and offline communications
- – Implementing the social media strategy and managing content across the organization’s Kenya platforms
- – Facilitating media engagement through press releases, pitching stories, and coordinating field visits
- – Supporting the planning and execution of key project events and campaigns
- – Maintaining communication databases and media lists to ensure visibility
- – Tracking media coverage and social media performance through regular reporting
- – Assisting with internal communications and presentation/report preparation
Driving Strategic Communications in Kenya
In this role, you will work closely with the MNCH Project Coordinator, Nairobi Country Office Operations Manager, technical experts, and field officers to deliver impactful, timely, and targeted communications. Your efforts will help to influence decision-makers and advocate for the protection of children’s rights across Kenya.
Qualifications and Experience
To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will possess:
- – Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or a related field
- – Minimum 2 years of experience in development communications, with NGO/humanitarian context as an advantage
- – Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- – Strong photography, editing, and multimedia production skills
- – Deep understanding of children’s rights and key international agreements
- – Demonstrated cultural awareness and ability to work with diverse stakeholders
- – Proficiency in Save the Children’s core values: accountability, collaboration, integrity, ambition, and creativity
