Job Description

The International Fertilizer Development Center (IFDC) is hiring a passionate individual to join their team as a Communications Intern in Nairobi, Kenya. This internship will provide valuable learning experience and opportunities for professional development.

They uniquely approach global issues of food security and poverty by bridging the gap between research and impact, combining science-based innovations, holistic market systems development, an enabling policy environment, and strategic partnerships to assist farmers and countries in identifying and scaling sustainable agricultural solutions, including improved nutrient use efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • – Social Media Content Development and Monitoring
  • – Supporting the Communications Team in Writing Articles
  • – Supporting the Communications Team in Designing Infographics and Videos
  • – Supporting the Communications Team in Photography
  • – Editing Various Documents
  • – Contributing skills in areas such as graphic design or podcasts to additional projects as needed
Supervision:

The Communications Intern will be supervised directly by the Regional Communications Coordinator, East and Southern Africa, and will have training opportunities and collaborative support with other communications staff based in Africa and throughout IFDC’s offices in the United States and Asia.

Required Skills:

  • – Hands-on experience with organizational social media use and platforms, or working knowledge gained through coursework or personal projects
  • – Demonstrated strong interest in research, backed by relevant coursework or previous research projects
  • – Proficient editing skills demonstrated through coursework or relevant experiences
  • – Proven ability to maintain a high level of attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in written and visual materials

Required Experience:

  • – A graduate in Communications and Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Graphic Design and Advertising, English Literature, or a related field
  • – Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in writing through previous coursework, published articles, or relevant writing samples
