The Kenya Red Cross Society, one of the largest humanitarian organizations in Kenya, is hiring a qualified Country Finance Officer. This critical role will provide financial support to the Danish Red Cross (DRC) country team and coordinate with the country office in managing overall finance, budgeting, portfolio, reporting, and ensuring adherence to donor guidelines and DRC standard operating procedures.


  • – Bachelor’s degree in Finance Management, Accounting, or a related field
  • – Relevant professional qualification
  • – Minimum of 5 years of field-level experience with recognized organizations, with expertise in financial management, accounting, donor reporting, and auditing
  • – Experience in multi-tasking in diverse environments
  • – Sound knowledge and skills in budget planning and finance management
  • – Proven ability to work across the project cycle management

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • – Coordinate and assist the Country Office and KRCS in preparing contracts, agreements, plans of action, annual and quarterly program budgets, and financial reports to donors, ensuring adherence to donor guidelines and DRC SOPs
  • – Coordinate with a dedicated ICA, the creation of country-level grants and projects within the DRC accounting system
  • – Control and monitor program budgets and expenditures, ensuring compliance with donor and DRC requirements
  • – Provide input to the financial overviews of the DRC region/country project and program portfolio, and follow up on grants allocated to the country
  • – Undertake quality control of cash requests and quarterly financial statements submitted by partners
  • – Prepare and periodically update grant income and expenditure budgets for overall programs in the country
  • – Identify capacity development needs and assist the DRC Country Team in building the financial management capacity of the National Society
  • – Undertake field visits to provide on-site support and financial management capacity development of KRCS and the DRC country team
  • – Ensure monthly reporting of country office accounts, including reconciliations
  • – Process and book DRC Country Office payments and, if applicable, workflow (internal) invoices
