The Public Service Superannuation Fund (PSSF) is currently seeking an experienced and strategic General Manager, Investments to join their Finance & Accounts Department. This executive position offers an exceptional opportunity to lead the investment strategy of one of Kenya’s prominent pension funds.
Position Overview
The General Manager, Investments will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive investment strategies, managing the Fund’s diverse portfolio, and ensuring optimal returns while maintaining prudent risk management practices. This role reports directly to the CEO and works closely with the Board’s Investment Committee.
Key Responsibilities
- – Design and implement robust investment policy statements aligned with corporate objectives and regulatory requirements
- – Lead the development and execution of strategic investment management initiatives
- – Oversee the Fund’s property portfolio management and development projects
- – Direct relationships with Fund managers, contractors, consultants, and key stakeholders
- – Monitor and evaluate investment performance and market trends
Strategic Planning and Management
- – Formulate and execute leading investment management strategies
- – Conduct comprehensive feasibility analyses for potential investment opportunities
- – Develop policy guidelines for Fund property management
- – Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and statutory obligations
- – Monitor and analyze the Fund’s assets and liabilities performance
Property and Project Management
- – Supervise ongoing development projects
- – Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and project managers
- – Ensure optimal maintenance of Fund properties
- – Oversee property acquisition and development initiatives
- – Monitor property portfolio performance
Financial Analysis and Risk Management
- – Perform detailed market analysis and investment research
- – Conduct stress tests and scenario analyses
- – Compare Fund performance against industry benchmarks
- – Identify and manage investment risks
- – Evaluate Fund Managers’ performance for strategic decision-making
Educational Requirements
Master’s Degree in any of the following fields:
- – Finance
- – Investment
- – Economics
- – Or related discipline from a recognized institution
- – Bachelor’s Degree in any of the above fields (mandatory)
Professional Qualifications
- – Active membership with relevant professional bodies such as:
- – CIFA (Chartered Institute for Financial Analysts)
- – CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst)
- – Or equivalent professional certification
- – Valid practicing certificate where applicable
Experience Requirements
- – Minimum fifteen (15) years of relevant cumulative work experience
- – At least five (5) years at senior management level or comparable position
- – Proven track record in investment management and strategy implementation
- – Experience in property investment and development management
- – Strong background in financial markets and portfolio management
Technical Skills & Requirements
- – Advanced proficiency in financial modeling and analysis tools
- – Strong computer application skills
- – Excellence in risk management and compliance
- – Must fulfill the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Constitution
