Jambojet, a leading regional low-cost carrier in East Africa, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Ground Services Supervisor to join their team. This pivotal role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the airline’s growth and operational excellence.
Role Purpose:
Under the guidance of the Manager Ground Services, the Ground Services Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing station sales, revenue targets, market share growth, and the efficient operation of Jambojet’s airport and security services. This role is crucial in maintaining the highest standards of safety, security, and customer service across all ground operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Safety and Security Management:
- – Ensure continuous implementation of the station management system
- – Maintain safety and security standards in all station operations
- – Implement and oversee adherence to safety protocols during aircraft turnaround activities
- – Liaise with relevant authorities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- – Activate and manage the Station Emergency Response Plan (SERP) when necessary
- – Conduct annual station ERP drills and complete bi-annual station preparedness checklists
2. Operational Excellence:
- – Oversee efficient deployment of Jambojet resources to meet passenger and operational requirements
- – Manage aircraft turnaround activities to ensure timely departures
- – Implement and maintain high standards of customer service
- – Handle operational challenges such as delays, disruptions, and excess baggage situations
- – Ensure timely closure and finalization of flights
- – File flight plans in compliance with legal and company safety requirements
3. Customer Experience and Complaint Resolution:
- – Deliver exceptional customer service that meets and exceeds passenger expectations
- – Handle and resolve passenger queries, complaints, and claims promptly
- – Implement the “Options” Scheme for oversold flights as per company guidelines
- – Ensure timely communication with customers to minimize denied boarding complaints
4. Revenue and Sales Management:
- – Work towards achieving station sales and revenue targets
- – Contribute to market share growth strategies
- – Reconcile revenue documents and ensure proper completion of flight packets
5. Team Leadership and Administration:
- – Manage staff rostering and performance appraisals
- – Maintain staff discipline and efficiency
- – Provide coaching and career development opportunities for team members
- – Handle administrative functions including stationery reordering
6. Stakeholder Management:
- – Represent Jambojet at Airport Operators Committee (AOC) meetings
- – Build and maintain relationships with airport authorities, service suppliers, and frequent flyers
- – Ensure service suppliers are briefed on Jambojet requirements for smooth service handling
7. Compliance and Reporting:
- – Identify and report hazards, near misses, incidents, and accidents
- – Maintain a risk register for the station
- – Prepare monthly reports on Ground Handling activities and procedures
- – Assist in completing flight handling and other reports as needed
8. Baggage Management:
- – Oversee baggage tracking and delivery processes
- – Liaise with the Insurance department on baggage-related claims
- – Ensure execution of load control functions in line with company standards and regulations
Requirements:
Education:
- – Minimum of Diploma in Sales and Marketing / Travel & Tourism
- – University degree in a relevant field preferred
Experience:
- – Minimum 3 years’ experience in ground services or aviation sales with an IATA airline
- – At least 2 years’ experience at a supervisory level, demonstrating leadership in managing teams and operational activities
Certifications:
- – Advanced courses in Passenger Services, Ground Operations, Load Control, and Baggage Services & Claims
Technical Skills:
- – Proficiency in Navitaire, Skyport & Skyspeed systems
- – Strong understanding of sales strategies, revenue management, and market share analysis
- – In-depth knowledge of ground services operations, safety protocols, and security procedures

- – Excellent leadership and team management abilities
- – Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- – Outstanding customer service orientation
- – Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- – Ability to work under pressure and handle crisis situations
