KCB Bank is hiring for the position of Head of Sustainable Finance. This role reports to the Director – Corporate Banking and is responsible for driving sustainable finance origination and revenues, developing strong client relationships, managing risks associated with green lending transactions, and supporting product and relationship teams in achieving green lending targets.
Key Responsibilities:
- – Lead, develop, and deliver the bank’s green lending/finance strategy, including green bonds and sustainable lending/financial instruments.
- – Drive the achievement of sustainable finance targets and financed emissions reduction targets.
- – Design and oversee the commercialization of sustainable finance products in collaboration with cross-functional teams and subsidiaries.
- – Provide expertise in executing sustainable finance opportunities and delivering high-quality service to internal and external clients.
- – Collaborate with relationship management teams to deliver sustainable propositions to clients, balancing client needs with the bank’s risk and return priorities.
- – Identify, assess, and recommend sustainable investment opportunities, such as green bonds, impact investments, and sustainable financial products.
- – Support the corporate banking business origination team by providing insights into sustainable finance structures, environmental/social risks, and regulations.
- – Work closely with the Group corporate affairs team to build an internal/external stakeholder strategy promoting green lending while ensuring consistent messaging.
- – Design and implement the bank’s green lending framework, policies, processes, and procedures.
- – Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track green lending progress, monitor and evaluate initiatives, and implement corrective actions.
- – Develop and maintain productive strategic relationships with key stakeholders.
- – Prepare and deliver reports on green lending performance, progress, and achievements to internal and external stakeholders.
- – Develop a deep understanding of sustainable finance market practices, ESG analysis, and complex structures to maximize opportunities and mitigate risks.
- – Manage risks within the regulatory and compliance framework of the bank.
- – Lead, motivate, and continuously develop a high-performing team.
Requirements:
- – Bachelor’s degree in Sustainable Development or a related field.
- – Master’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Studies, Development Economics, Finance, Law, or International Relations (preferred).
- – Professional qualifications in Project/Program Management, Environmental and Social Certification, Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), or Carbon Accounting (preferred).
- – At least 10 years of experience in Sustainability and Environmental Management.
- – Experience in strategic planning, implementation, monitoring, policy, and governance.
- – Demonstrable experience and understanding of sustainable finance solutions, sustainable lending/green funding, Climate Risk Management, and green taxonomy.
- – Strong interpersonal, people management, stakeholder engagement, and partnership management skills.
- – Outstanding written communication skills for writing senior and complex correspondence, reports, presentations, policies, procedures, processes, and strategy papers.
- – Excellent IT/computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
