The Communications & Interagency Intern will collaborate closely with both units to facilitate effective communication with target audiences. The role involves assisting in creating newsletters for diverse audiences, organizing events, monitoring media channels, managing social media, and contributing to internal communication narratives. Additionally, the intern will coordinate and oversee inter-agency meetings, workshops, and reporting, and maintain good relationships with UN, NGO, national, and international partners, as well as Refugee-Led Organizations (RLOs).
Key Responsibilities:
- – Maintain up-to-date mailing lists.
- – Support internal communications, including identifying and preparing stories.
- – Assist with graphic design and layout of documents and reports.
- – Support donor visibility requirements and tracking.
- – Assist in planning events and editing reports for Regional Refugee Response Plans.
- – Organize and take notes for NGO and UN agency meetings, workshops, and compile country updates on UN collaborative frameworks.
Desirable Qualifications and Skills:
- – Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Information, or related field.
- – Proficiency in graphic design.
- – Fluency in English with excellent written and oral communication skills.
- – Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- – Excellent writing and editing skills.
- – Demonstrated commitment or strong interest in international relations, refugee issues, and humanitarian response.
- – Familiarity with photography.
Working Hours:
Full-time, starting from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Thursday and 8:00 am to 2:00 pm on Friday (37 hours per week). The successful candidate will support the team in the External Engagement Section, at the Regional Bureau for EHAGL.
Internship Duration:
Initially six months, with the possibility of extension up to a maximum total cumulative duration of eight months, subject to agreement between the intern and the manager.
Compensation:
Interns who do not receive financial support from an outside party will receive an allowance to partially help support costs related to food, local transportation, and living expenses.
