Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) is Hiring: Africa Research Intern
Intern Position Overview
GEAPP seeks a talented Research Intern to join their Africa team in driving clean energy access and transition initiatives across emerging and developing countries. This internship offers valuable experience in sustainable energy development and policy analysis.
Location & Duration
- – Base: GEAPP Africa offices (Nairobi or Johannesburg)
- – Term: 3-6 months (November 2024 to January 2025 start dates)
- – Type: Full-time internship
Key Responsibilities
Research & Analysis
- – Conduct comprehensive research on energy access and transition topics
- – Analyze data trends and patterns in clean energy development
- – Prepare detailed market assessment reports
- – Support policy implementation research
Project Support
- – Draft high-quality memos and briefing documents
- – Assist in organizing workshops and webinars
- – Contribute to program administration
- – Support team coordination efforts
Qualification Requirements
Educational Background
- – Current enrollment in or recent completion of Master’s/PhD program
- – Focus areas: Energy Policy, Development Studies, Economics, or related fields
- – Strong academic performance record
Language Skills
- – Mandatory: Fluent English (written and spoken)
- – Desirable: French or Portuguese proficiency
Experience Level
- – Early career (typically under 3 years)
- – Background in electricity policy, finance, or energy economics preferred
- – Developing country context experience valuable
Required Competencies

- – Advanced research and analytical capabilities
- – Strong data analysis and visualization expertise
- – Excellent written and verbal communication
