Job Overview:
The Head of Financial Services will play a pivotal role in KCB Bank’s corporate banking division, leading the strategic direction and growth of the Financial Services Sector. This position requires a visionary leader who can drive business growth, maximize shareholder value, and foster strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership and Business Growth:
- – Develop and implement the Financial Services Sector strategy in alignment with overall Corporate Banking objectives
- – Drive sustainable revenue and profitability growth for the sector
- – Set and achieve annual business targets for revenue, fees, commissions, profit before tax, assets, liabilities, and customer numbers
- – Stay abreast of industry trends, macroeconomic issues, and client needs to inform strategic decision-making
2. Client Relationship Management:
- – Lead a high-performing Relationship Management team to maximize share of wallet across the sector
- – Personally maintain and deepen relationships with key clients and stakeholders
- – Champion the delivery of seamless and trusted customer service to ensure client retention and loyalty
- – Develop and implement strategic client plans and marketing initiatives
3. Product Development and Cross-Selling:
- – Collaborate with other banking divisions to create innovative financial solutions
- – Drive cross-selling of banking products across Corporate Banking, Retail Banking, Treasury, and Digital Financial Services
- – Identify and capitalize on new business opportunities within the Financial Services Sector
4. Risk Management and Compliance:
- – Ensure timely submission of high-quality credit proposals in line with Credit Policy guidelines
- – Maintain portfolio quality within stipulated Non-Performing Loans (NPL) and Portfolio at Risk (PAR) parameters
- – Implement robust monitoring, controls, and governance practices to mitigate risks
5. Team Leadership and Development:
- – Recruit, develop, and retain top talent within the Financial Services team
- – Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide coaching to team members
- – Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and high performance
- – Ensure a harmonious working environment that enhances staff engagement and productivity
6. Stakeholder Management:
- – Build and maintain strong relationships with internal departments, external partners, and regulatory bodies
- – Represent KCB Bank at industry events and forums related to the Financial Services Sector
- – Contribute to the bank’s thought leadership initiatives in the financial services space
Requirements:
1. Educational Qualifications:
- – Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized institution (Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field is a plus)
2. Professional Experience:
- – Minimum 8 years of experience in Corporate Banking, with at least 6 years in senior management positions
- – Proven track record of achieving business growth and profitability targets in the banking sector
- – Demonstrable experience in developing and implementing successful business strategies
3. Technical Skills:
- – In-depth knowledge of the banking industry, market trends, and regulatory environment
- – Strong understanding of corporate finance, risk management, and credit principles
- – Proficiency in financial analysis and modeling
