Kenya Power is seeking an experienced Manager, Enterprise Risk Management to join their leadership team at the Central Office. This strategic position reports directly to the General Manager, Business Strategy and offers a unique opportunity to shape the organization’s risk management framework.

Role Purpose

The successful candidate will lead the development and implementation of enterprise-wide risk management strategies, ensuring robust risk governance and compliance across all business operations.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Risk Management

  • – Support the Management Risk Advisory Committee in policy development
  • – Drive implementation of risk management strategies
  • – Monitor and evaluate enterprise-wide risk exposure
  • – Align risk management practices with business objectives
  • – Develop innovative risk mitigation approaches

Compliance & Governance

  • – Ensure adherence to PFM Act and Regulations
  • – Maintain ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 31000:2009 compliance
  • – Monitor regulatory compliance across operations
  • – Implement risk management best practices
  • – Coordinate with assurance providers

Risk Assessment & Monitoring

  • – Facilitate comprehensive risk assessments
  • – Monitor high-priority and emerging risks
  • – Track risk exposure against approved appetite
  • – Coordinate inter-functional risk identification
  • – Maintain enterprise risk registers

Leadership & Reporting

  • – Escalate critical risk issues to senior management
  • – Prepare detailed risk management reports
  • – Guide divisional heads and risk champions
  • – Monitor implementation of mitigation strategies
  • – Provide regular updates to board committees

Team Development

  • – Coach and mentor risk management team
  • – Implement succession planning strategies
  • – Build risk management capabilities
  • – Foster a risk-aware culture
  • – Drive continuous improvement initiatives

Required Qualifications

Education

  • – Bachelor’s Degree in Risk Management, Actuarial Science, Engineering, Finance, Business Administration, ICT, or related field
  • – Advanced Degree (added advantage)
  • – Professional membership in:
  • – Institute of Risk Management
  • – Global Association of Risk Professionals
  • – Institute of Actuaries
  • – Chartered Insurance Institute

Experience

  • – 10 years total working experience
  • – 5 years in supervisory role
  • – Proven track record in enterprise risk management
  • – Experience in utility sector (advantage)
  • – Demonstrated leadership capabilities
