Kenya Power is seeking an experienced Manager, Insurance Services to join their executive team at the Central Office. This strategic position reports directly to the General Manager, Finance and offers an opportunity to shape the organization’s insurance and risk management framework.

Role Purpose

The successful candidate will lead the development and implementation of comprehensive insurance strategies while ensuring optimal protection of company assets, human resources, and potential liabilities through effective risk transfer mechanisms.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Insurance Management

  • – Develop and implement insurance strategies aligned with corporate governance
  • – Design and maintain risk management tools and policies
  • – Oversee insurance policy compliance with regulations
  • – Lead insurance contract negotiations and management
  • – Drive innovation in insurance risk transfer solutions

Risk Assessment & Protection

  • – Conduct comprehensive risk assessments
  • – Implement necessary risk transfer measures
  • – Ensure timely insurance coverage for all assets
  • – Manage human resource-related insurance programs
  • – Monitor and evaluate potential legal liabilities

Policy Administration

  • – Manage insurance policy portfolio
  • – Monitor and expedite claims recoveries
  • – Maintain insurance contract documentation
  • – Oversee policy renewals and updates
  • – Track insurance market developments

Compliance & Governance

  • – Ensure adherence to statutory obligations
  • – Implement corporate standards
  • – Maintain regulatory compliance
  • – Enforce code of conduct
  • – Monitor insurance industry regulations

Stakeholder Management

  • – Build relationships with insurance providers
  • – Engage with service providers
  • – Provide guidance on insurance matters
  • – Lead insurance-related communications
  • – Manage broker relationships

Required Qualifications

Education

  • – Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, or related field from recognized university
  • – Member or Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute
  • – Chartered Insurance Practitioner or Insurer certification

Experience

  • – 10 years total working experience
  • – 5 years in supervisory role
  • – Proven track record in insurance management
  • – Experience in utility sector (advantage)
  • – Demonstrated leadership capabilities

Technical Skills

  • – Proficiency in computerized financial systems
  • – Advanced data analysis capabilities
  • – Risk assessment expertise
  • – Insurance contract management
  • – Claims processing knowledge
