Mombasa County is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Medical Physicist to join their team. This is a re-advertisement for the position, offering a 3-year contract term.
About the Role:
As a Medical Physicist, you will play a crucial role in the treatment and care of cancer patients within the county. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring the highest standards of quality assurance and quality control across various medical imaging and radiotherapy modalities.
Key Responsibilities:
Cancer Treatment
- – Provide direct treatment of cancer patients using advanced radiotherapy techniques
- – Administer radioactive drugs to patients for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes, as prescribed by radiotherapists, radiologists, or nuclear medicine specialists
- – Supervise diagnostic and therapy radiographers in the treatment of cancer patients
Quality Assurance and Control
- – Implement robust quality assurance and quality control measures in radiotherapy, nuclear medicine, and diagnostic radiology
- – Conduct regular calibrations and performance assessments of medical imaging and radiotherapy equipment
- – Ensure adherence to established protocols and standards to optimize patient safety and treatment outcomes
Brachytherapy
- – Participate in the planning and delivery of brachytherapy treatments for cancer patients
- – Provide dosimetric support and oversight for brachytherapy procedures
Radiation Dosimetry
- – Perform comprehensive radiation dosimetry calculations and measurements
- – Develop and validate dose calculation algorithms for various treatment modalities
- – Ensure accurate and precise delivery of radiation doses to patients
Professional Collaboration
- – Work closely with radiotherapists, radiologists, and nuclear medicine specialists to coordinate patient care
- – Contribute to the development and implementation of treatment protocols and guidelines
- – Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards and patient management discussions
Requirements:
Educational Qualifications
- – Master of Science in Medical Physics
- – Bachelor of Science in Physics
Experience
- – Minimum of 1 year of experience working in a busy radiotherapy center or hospital
Additional Requirements
- – Kenyan citizenship
- – Compliance with Chapter Six of the Constitution
