The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is hiring for a Nutrition Researcher position within their Airbel Impact Lab. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to life-changing solutions for people affected by conflict and disaster.

About the Organization:

The IRC, founded in 1933, is a leading humanitarian organization operating in over 50 countries. The Airbel Impact Lab designs, tests, and scales innovative solutions for humanitarian contexts.

Position Overview:

The Nutrition Researcher will support the design, implementation, analysis, and publication of research studies across the IRC’s Nutrition portfolio. This role is crucial in driving forward the organization’s research agenda in nutrition.

Key Responsibilities:

1. New Project Development

  •    – Lead research project conceptualization and design
  •    – Engage with scientific partners and country teams
  •    – Contribute to funding proposals and budgets
  •    – Manage ethical approval processes

2. Study Implementation and Field Team Support

  •    – Supervise Research Coordinators/Managers
  •    – Oversee study planning and execution
  •    – Provide training and support to field teams
  •    – Ensure thorough documentation of research learnings

3. Evidence Production

  •    – Draft analysis plans and perform data analysis
  •    – Lead manuscript writing for peer-reviewed journals
  •    – Present findings at conferences and webinars
  •    – Oversee consultants and students on evidence production

Requirements:

  • – Masters/PhD in Public Health, Nutrition, or related field
  • – 6+ years (Masters) or 4+ years (PhD) experience in health/nutrition research
  • – Experience in nutrition programming and CMAM (preferred)
  • – Strong data analysis skills (STATA or R)
  • – Demonstrated competency in writing quantitative research articles
  • – Excellent coordination and communication skills
  • – Proficiency in mobile data collection software
  • – Fluency in English and working proficiency in French

Working Environment:

  • – Standard office or fully remote (preference for GMT+ timezones)
  • – Up to 30% travel required, including to challenging field sites
