Roche a global leader in healthcare innovation, is seeking a talented Policy and Government Affairs Partner to join their team and shape policy implementation across the African continent. This role will be based in Africa, enabling consistent engagement with regional and local stakeholders to drive initiatives that span multiple countries.
About the Role:
As the Policy and Government Affairs Partner at Roche Diagnostics Africa, you will serve as the point of contact for health policy, engaging with regional intergovernmental organizations and local agencies/NGOs. You will provide insights into African regional health priorities and policy agendas, and support the local affiliate policy teams in delivering the Roche Diagnostics 10 Years Africa Strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
- – Build a deep understanding of the healthcare ecosystems across the African continent and set policy agenda priorities
- – Actively engage and build relationships with political stakeholders and key influencers of health policy agendas at regional and national levels
- – Conduct research, analyze current healthcare policies, evaluate the effects of proposed legislation, and report on findings to identify unmet needs and opportunities
- – Influence political and social events to increase the voice around healthcare issues related to Roche’s key business initiatives in Africa
- – Build supporting tools and knowledge resources for the implementation of policy agenda at local levels
- – Support affiliate access, policy, and commercial teams in local activities to minimize gaps and hurdles to access, in support of health system strengthening initiatives and public-private partnerships
Requirements:
- – A degree in Science or the Social Sciences
- – Highly desirable: Master’s degree in Policy, Health Economics, or Health Financing
- – Significant experience in the pharmaceutical, medical device, or laboratory industry, with a focus on market access, government affairs, and health policy
- – Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory, and the ability to read and speak French is an advantage
- – Proven track record of contributing to regional/area business objectives, driving policy changes, and developing key relationships within the African health policy ecosystem
- – Excellent interpersonal skills, critical thinking, strategic mindset, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- – Ethical mindset and good understanding of relevant compliance principles and regulations
- – Strong influencing and negotiation skills, with the ability to mobilize people behind a common purpose and strategy
