DAI is Hiring a Procurement Officer for USAID STAWI Project in Nairobi, Kenya
DAI, a leading global development company, seeks an experienced Procurement Officer to join their USAID Sustainable, Transformational, and Accessible Water Interventions (STAWI) Activity in Nairobi. This role will support a critical five-year initiative focused on advancing water security across nine Kenyan counties.
About the STAWI Project (2023-2028)
The STAWI Activity is a transformative USAID-funded project working alongside county governments to enhance water security for social, economic, and environmental needs. The project aims to reverse historical neglect and achieve inclusive economic growth while building resilience in Kenya’s most water-stressed communities.
Project Objectives
The STAWI initiative focuses on four key areas:
- – Enhancing governance of water resources and services
- – Strengthening the sustainability of water service delivery
- – Optimizing management and equitable access to productive water usage
- – Fostering collaboration and learning among stakeholders while building county government capacity
Position Overview
The Procurement Officer will play a vital role in supporting STAWI’s mission by ensuring efficient and compliant procurement processes that enable effective project implementation across all nine target counties.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- – Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with USAID regulations and DAI policies
- – Manage the complete procurement cycle from requisition to delivery for project goods and services
- – Establish and maintain relationships with vendors while ensuring competitive pricing and quality
- – Create and maintain procurement documentation and tracking systems
- – Coordinate with project teams to understand and fulfill procurement needs effectively
- – Ensure compliance with donor requirements and local procurement regulations
- – Support capacity building of local partners in procurement best practices
Required Qualifications
- – Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, or related field
- – Minimum 5 years of experience in procurement, preferably in development projects
- – Strong knowledge of USAID procurement regulations and compliance requirements
- – Proven track record in vendor management and contract negotiations
- – Excellent organizational and documentation skills
- – Fluency in English; working knowledge of Kiswahili is an advantage
