Reconciliations Accountant

AIG Insurance Kenya is hiring an experienced Reconciliations Accountant to join their dynamic finance team. This role is essential in ensuring accurate financial records and compliance within the company’s policies.

Requirements:

• – Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
• – Professional qualification: CPA (K) or ACCA
• – Membership with the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK)
• – Relevant experience in the insurance industry
• – Experience in performing bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, inter-company reconciliations, and other financial transaction reconciliations
• – Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
• – Excellent analytical, planning, and organizational skills
• – Proven ability to perform well under pressure and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• – Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Duties and Responsibilities:

• – Reconcile and analyze general ledger and sub-ledger accounts to source data and systems to ensure accurate recording of transactions and account balances
• – Scrutinize data from various source systems, investigate discrepancies, and collaborate with business and finance teams to address differences, outstanding issues, and unusual balances
• – Prepare Excel templates for complex account reconciliations
• – Ensure reconciliations comply with company financial standards and procedures regarding aging profiles and volumes of open items
• – Provide analysis and commentary on open items, liaising with relevant teams to investigate and resolve unidentified differences promptly
• – Actively contribute to determining service-level agreements (SLAs) for interdepartmental dependencies affecting clearance of open items in reconciliations
• – Responsible for reducing unexplained/unreconciled amounts and volumes month-on-month
• – Ensure adherence to audit and regulatory compliance requirements
• – Perform any other duties assigned by management
