The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Regional Office for Eastern Africa (ROEA) in Nairobi, Kenya, works to combat illicit drugs, crime, and terrorism in the region. As part of the UN’s Division for Operations, ROEA plays a crucial role in implementing UNODC’s mandate across Eastern Africa.

Position Overview

UNODC is seeking a Staff Assistant to provide high-level executive administrative support to the Regional Representative and office operations in Nairobi. This role offers an opportunity to work at the heart of UNODC’s regional operations, facilitating efficient communication and administrative processes.

Key Responsibilities

Executive Support

  • – Manage Regional Representative’s calendar and scheduling
  • – Coordinate meetings with diverse stakeholders
  • – Arrange travel and logistics
  • – Maintain contact databases
  • – Prepare and coordinate briefing materials
  • – Handle confidential information

Administrative Management

  • – Coordinate administrative actions across units
  • – Process documentation for personnel, travel, and procurement
  • – Manage office communications and information flow
  • – Support high-level missions and delegations
  • – Monitor and respond to urgent matters

Documentation and Reporting

  • – Draft and proofread formal communications
  • – Prepare reports and presentations
  • – Maintain electronic and physical filing systems
  • – Generate statistical reports using Umoja
  • – Support data analysis and visualization

Required Qualifications

  • – High School diploma
  • – 5 years of progressive administrative experience (3 years with university degree)
  • – 3 years of executive office experience
  • – UN system or international organization experience
  • – Fluency in English

Preferred Qualifications

  • – Experience with Umoja or similar ERP systems
  • – Data analytics experience
  • – French language skills
  • – Knowledge of other UN official languages
