The Role: Swimming Coach Extraordinaire
As the Swimming Coach at Nova Pioneer’s Athi River Primary Campus, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering an exceptional 21st-century learning experience. Your expertise will help students succeed both in and out of the pool.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Program Development and Management:
- – Collaborate with the Dean of Students to create and implement a visionary swimming program
- – Oversee in-house and regional swimming relationships
- – Organize swimming galas and external competitions
- – Develop a competitive school swim team
2. Coaching and Instruction:
- – Design and execute comprehensive training programs
- – Provide individual and group coaching on swimming techniques, rules, and regulations
- – Conduct coaching sessions throughout the academic day and residential evenings
- – Assess and record student performance, providing constructive feedback
3. Safety and Equipment Management:
- – Ensure proper use and care of swimming equipment
- – Maintain a safe swimming environment, including pool area and changing rooms
- – Administer basic first aid when necessary
4. Administrative Duties:
- – Take daily attendance and maintain accurate progress reports
- – Participate in professional development opportunities
- – Assist with yard duty, including student screening and bus logistics
- – Contribute to the weekly Team on Duty schedule
Requirements:
1. Qualifications:
- – Active membership with the Kenya Swimming Federation
- – Kenya Swimming Federation Level 3 coaching certification or higher
- – Valid Lifesaver certification
- – Basic first aid training
- – Degree/diploma/certificate in Physical Education or Sports/Recreational Science (desirable)
- – TSC certificate (advantageous)
2. Experience:
- – 1-3 years of experience in a similar position working with swimmers
- – Proven track record of implementing successful swimming programs and competitions
3. Skills:
- – Excellent coaching techniques and in-depth knowledge of swimming rules and strategies
- – Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- – Outstanding interpersonal skills for building relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
- – Adaptability and problem-solving abilities
