Position Overview

The Treasury Accountant will play a pivotal role in managing financial operations, ensuring fiscal stability, and driving strategic financial initiatives across Penda Health’s expanding network of medical centers in Nairobi and Kiambu Counties.

Key Responsibilities

Treasury Operations Management

  • – Oversee daily treasury department operations
  • – Develop and implement treasury management strategies
  • – Negotiate foreign currency transactions with banking partners
  • – Monitor and optimize cash management systems
  • – Ensure compliance with loan obligations and covenants

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • – Conduct comprehensive cash flow planning and forecasting
  • – Create detailed financial models for decision support
  • – Analyze liquidity positions and market conditions
  • – Develop strategic financial recommendations
  • – Monitor and report on key financial metrics

Banking Relations & Compliance

  • – Serve as primary Bank Agent for the organization
  • – Manage banking relationships and negotiations
  • – Ensure covenant compliance and reporting
  • – Oversee foreign exchange operations
  • – Draft and present official banking documentation

Process Improvement & Control

  • – Implement robust internal control systems
  • – Optimize treasury processes for efficiency
  • – Identify cost-saving opportunities
  • – Develop risk management strategies
  • – Maintain compliance with financial regulations

Stakeholder Management

  • – Coordinate with departmental heads on financial needs
  • – Manage internal and external payment processes
  • – Lead treasury team operations
  • – Liaise with external financial partners
  • – Provide financial guidance to management

Reporting & Documentation

  • – Prepare comprehensive treasury reports
  • – Manage month-end and quarter-close activities
  • – Document treasury procedures and policies
  • – Monitor and report on loan interest schedules
  • – Generate financial analysis for stakeholders

Required Qualifications

Education

  • – Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting
  • – Professional qualification: ACCA/CPA/CA
  • – Active membership in relevant professional body
  • – Continuous professional development evidence

Experience

  • – Minimum 5 years in treasury management
  • – Proven track record in cash flow management
  • – Experience with financial forecasting
  • – Banking relationship management expertise
  • – System implementation experience (preferred)

Technical Skills

  • – Advanced Excel proficiency
  • – ERP system expertise
  • – Financial modeling capabilities
  • – Banking software knowledge
  • – Risk management understanding
