Position Overview:
The Warehouse Manager will be responsible for overseeing the storage, refurbishment, refinancing, and sale of second-hand assets using a dealership model. This role reports directly to the Secondary Marketplace Operations Manager and plays a vital part in Watu’s commitment to empowering entrepreneurs across Africa.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Team Management and Leadership:
- – Recruit and develop talent in collaboration with the HR team
- – Manage daily performance, provide feedback, and ensure KPIs are met
- – Train team members on necessary skills and tools
- – Manage team welfare and ensure proper equipment is available
2. Process and Project Management:
- – Oversee warehouse operations, including asset reception, storage, and release
- – Maintain inventory accuracy and manage warehouse capacity
- – Implement and monitor compliance with defined routines and processes
- – Provide insights and recommendations for process improvements
- – Conceptualize and manage efficiency-boosting projects
3. Commercial Operations:
- – Drive and manage warehouse sales to meet set baselines
- – Innovate strategies to push sales of repossessed assets
- – Manage stock projections to meet sales targets
- – Develop and maintain B2B relationships with corporates, garages, and bulk buyers
4. Administration and Finance:
- – Plan and implement petty cash budgeting for warehouse operations
- – Ensure timely payment and proper documentation of bills and invoices
- – Manage and monitor adherence to health and safety standards
- – Act as custodian for all assets, office equipment, and tools of trade
5. Stakeholder Management:
- – Conduct regular meetings with direct and indirect reports
- – Resolve escalated client issues according to the established matrix
- – Liaise with various departments to ensure smooth operations
6. People Development:
- – Conduct performance appraisals and regular 1-on-1 meetings
- – Identify training needs and ensure appropriate support is provided
- – Develop creative ways to keep employees motivated and engaged
- – Address team conflicts and maintain a professional, values-based work environment
Requirements:
- – Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field
- – Minimum 4 years of experience in a fast-paced warehouse leadership role, managing hourly employees
- – Proven track record of driving performance and developing talent
- – Strong analytical and data management skills
- – Experience in risk management and fraud prevention strategies
- – Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- – Ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment
- – Flexibility and adaptability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced setting
