Position Overview:
Reporting to the Head of HR, Kenya, the Human Resource Business Partner will play a crucial role in aligning HR best practices with business objectives, providing strategic HR guidance, and supporting overall organizational effectiveness. This position requires a strategic thinker who can collaborate effectively with business leaders, managers, and employees to drive Watu’s mission forward.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic HR Planning:
- – Collaborate with the Head of HR and business leaders to understand and align business objectives with HR strategies
- – Analyze workforce trends and develop HR initiatives to attract, develop, and retain top talent
- – Propose and implement HR best practices that support organizational goals
2. Performance Management and Reward:
- – Support senior leadership in developing and implementing robust performance management systems
- – Champion organizational design solutions that foster a high-performance culture
- – Guide business leads in developing measurable performance indicators and improvement plans
3. HR Policies and Compliance:
- – Develop and implement fair and equitable HR policies and procedures
- – Ensure compliance with relevant employment laws and regulations
- – Conduct audits to address compliance gaps and promote understanding of HR policies
4. Business Partnership and Collaboration:
- – Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the organization
- – Provide strategic HR guidance and influence decision-making in business meetings and projects
- – Serve as a trusted advisor, aligning HR initiatives with organizational goals
5. Learning and Development:
- – Support departmental heads in conducting training needs analyses
- – Identify and implement suitable interventions for skill gaps, including coaching and counseling
- – Assist in implementing career progression guidelines and employee development initiatives
6. Compensation and Benefits:
- – Manage review and reward cycles, criteria, and eligibility processes
- – Support the implementation of compensation and benefits programs, including recognition systems
7. Talent Management:
- – Collaborate on workforce planning, succession planning, and talent development initiatives
- – Lead recruitment strategies, employer branding efforts, and employee engagement initiatives
8. Change Management:
- – Develop change management plans and communication strategies to support organizational transitions
- – Provide guidance on change implementation to minimize resistance and ensure smooth transitions
9. Engagement and Wellbeing:
- – Drive employee engagement initiatives and develop effective programs
- – Monitor and evaluate engagement initiatives, providing feedback for continuous improvement
10. Data Analysis and Reporting:
- – Track and analyze HR metrics to inform strategies and decision-making
- – Prepare HR reports, dashboards, and presentations for business leaders
- – Use data to assess HR program effectiveness and support evidence-based decision making
Requirements:
- – Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, or a related field
- – Minimum 7 years of work experience, with at least 2 years in a similar HR Business Partner role
- – Professional certification in Human Resource Management
- – Active membership with the Institute of Human Resource Management
- – Experience with HRMIS management and proficiency in MS Office suite
- – Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- – Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- – Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple assignments effectively
- – High sense of professionalism and confidentiality
- – Strategic thinking and ability to align HR initiatives with business objectives
- – Experience in change management and organizational development
- – Knowledge of Kenyan labor laws and HR best practices
