World Vision is seeking a dedicated Project Officer to support the Restore Africa Program in Marafa, Kenya. This role is crucial in mobilizing communities and implementing sustainable solutions for ecosystem restoration, improved livelihoods, and climate change resilience. The successful candidate will contribute to the program’s goal of improving the lives of 250,000 smallholder farmers and pastoralists across four target counties in Kenya by 2052.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Planning & Implementation:
- – Develop and manage annual, quarterly, monthly, and weekly plans and budgets
- – Track project expenditures and manage work plans within expected thresholds
- – Mobilize and sensitize communities on Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR), tree growing, Savings for Transformation (S4T), and other livelihood interventions
- – Identify and train FMNR and S4T champions and lead farmers
- – Establish FMNR resource centers and support local FMNR practice campaigns
- – Ensure adherence to World Vision Kenya and donor guidelines
2. Quality Assurance – Monitoring, Reporting, and Learning:
- – Collaborate with the MEAL team on field monitoring tools and data collection
- – Support data capture, validation, and updates in project management systems
- – Prepare timely and quality reports (monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual)
- – Conduct regular monitoring, reflection, and learning events with partners
- – Identify and document best practices and lessons learned
- – Support project assessment processes, including baseline and endline studies
3. Advocacy, Engagement, and Partnerships:
- – Build strong relationships with county government and relevant partners
- – Engage with Kenya Forest Service and county departments of environment and agriculture
- – Organize regular review meetings with stakeholders on FMNR uptake and implementation
- – Participate in quarterly technical working groups and annual county planning processes
- – Keep project participants informed of government laws and policies related to FMNR and environmental management
Requirements:
Education and Experience:
- – Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Forestry, Environmental Education, Natural Resource Management, Community Development, or a related field
- – Minimum 2 years’ experience in community development work, preferably in environmental or related programs
- – Experience in project management, including design, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting
- – Knowledge of and experience working with government and community structures
Skills and Competencies:
- – Excellent communication skills in English and Swahili (both oral and written)
- – Proficiency in local dialect strongly preferred
- – Strong networking and advocacy skills
- – Ability to train and coach others effectively
- – Cross-cultural sensitivity and emotional maturity
- – Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- – Valid motorcycle riding license and willingness to travel frequently
