World Vision Kenya is seeking a dedicated and experienced Program Officer – Nutrition to join their team in Nairobi, Kenya. This pivotal role will contribute to the organization’s mission of helping vulnerable children overcome poverty and experience fullness of life through improved nutrition and health outcomes.

Role Overview:
The Program Officer – Nutrition will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and overseeing nutrition interventions across World Vision Kenya’s programs. This position requires a passionate individual with strong technical expertise in nutrition, excellent project management skills, and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders to drive positive change in communities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Programmatic and Technical Support:
- – Provide leadership in implementing nutrition interventions and integrating them with other technical programs, including emergency response
- – Collaborate with the Nutrition Advisor to design and deliver effective nutrition strategies and programming interventions
- – Oversee the implementation of nutrition grants within the organization
- – Support the dissemination and roll-out of global and national nutrition policies and strategies
- – Provide technical support to the Ministry of Health during seasonal assessments and nutrition surveys
- – Ensure comprehensive induction of nutrition project staff on new projects, including implementation models, budgets, and donor regulations
2. Engagement, Networking, and Fundraising:
- – Support the Resource Acquisition and Management team in establishing donor links and positioning for upcoming nutrition grants
- – Assist in designing and developing nutrition grant concepts and proposals
- – Establish and maintain strategic engagements and collaborations to enhance World Vision Kenya’s position in nutrition funding
- – Coordinate World Vision Kenya’s participation in key national and international nutrition-related events
- – Represent the organization in donor meetings and other forums to ensure strategic positioning
3. Capacity Building and Team Management:
- – Identify opportunities to increase capacity for nutrition staff across World Vision Kenya programs
- – Lead the development and implementation of training guidance for nutrition implementation models
- – Collaborate with the P&C department to recruit competent nutrition staff
- – Mentor and train the nutrition team on core aspects such as project management, implementation, and reporting
4. Quality Assurance and Monitoring:
- – Provide guidance on timely and quality project reporting in line with World Vision and donor guidelines
- – Support nutrition program research, assessments, monitoring, and evaluations
- – Conduct technical reviews and field visits to ensure proper implementation of nutrition programs
- – Guide nutrition evaluations and surveys, including technical programs and grants
- – Advise on nutrition priorities for the country and specific county interventions, considering local and national action plans
Requirements:
Education and Professional Qualifications:
- – Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition or equivalent with extensive programming experience
- – Relevant postgraduate qualification(s) preferred
- – MUST be registered with the Kenya Nutritionists and Dieticians Institute
Experience:
- – Minimum of 5 years of technical experience in a development organization, covering all aspects of nutrition program design, technical standards, systems, processes, policies, and guidelines development
- – Demonstrated track record in proposal development, funding acquisitions, and grant management for major donors
- – Proven experience in engaging with government ministries and other stakeholders
- – Significant experience working with other NGOs and UN agencies is an added advantage
- – Experience working within the health system in Kenya
