Shining Hope for Communities (SHOFCO) is hiring a dedicated Child Protection and Gender Manager to lead their efforts in safeguarding children’s rights and implementing gender-inclusive programs in urban slums across Kenya.
About SHOFCO:
SHOFCO is an internationally recognized grassroots organization impacting over 2.4 million people across 17 urban slums in Kenya. They provide critical services including healthcare, clean water, education, and economic empowerment, linked to community-led advocacy.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Program Oversight:
- – Develop child protection and case management plans
- – Establish Rights of Children clubs and safe spaces in schools and communities
- – Document best practices and contribute to program strategies
2. Technical Leadership:
- – Provide guidance on child protection case management and adolescent safe spaces programming
- – Ensure robust referral and information management systems
- – Develop and implement capacity-building plans
3. Staff Management:
- – Supervise and develop the Child Protection and Gender team
- – Conduct performance reviews and assist in recruitment
4. Grant Management:
- – Oversee implementation of grant work plans and budgets
- – Ensure timely completion of program activities and high-quality donor reports
5. Stakeholder Engagement:
- – Maintain relationships with child protection actors, government agencies, and other stakeholders
- – Advocate for timely and quality case management responses for children
6. Program Development:
- – Contribute to strategic direction and proposal development
- – Collaborate with community structures to recruit child protection champions
Requirements:
- – Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Rights, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- – Minimum 5 years’ experience in child protection and gender programs
- – Proven experience in team management and cross-cultural settings
- – Strong understanding of child protection in diverse environments
- – Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
