About the Role

As the City General Manager, you will lead ALX’s efforts to grow the Nairobi community while driving its commercial success and impact. You’ll manage day-to-day operations, oversee revenue generation, and build a high-performing team.

Key Responsibilities

• Community Growth: Expand and maintain a high-caliber community of learners and professionals.
• P&L Ownership: Drive revenue growth and manage costs to ensure profitability and sustainability.
• Business Development & Partnerships: Establish strategic relationships with local stakeholders and partners.
• Local Representation: Serve as the face of ALX in Nairobi, representing the organization in forums, media, and key events.
• Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders.
• Creating Opportunities: Facilitate work opportunities for young Africans by connecting talent with local corporate partners.
• Execution Culture: Foster a hands-on, entrepreneurial culture where no task is too big or small.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• Talent Recruitment: Number of learners enrolled in ALX programs.
• Community Growth: Growth in the Nairobi community.
• Customer Experience: Learner satisfaction measured by Net Promoter Score (NPS).
• Impact: Number of work opportunities created for young talent.

Requirements

• 5+ years in management consulting, finance, or operations management.
• 3+ years of experience in partnership building.
• 3+ years in a management role.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a high level of self-motivation.
• Strong business and financial acumen, including the ability to build financial models.
• Proven experience in stakeholder management and relationship building.
• Data-driven decision-making skills with strong analytical capabilities.
• Ability to lead lean, high-performing teams in a dynamic environment.
• Flexibility to travel frequently within the region and work occasional late nights or weekends.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with hybrid work models, with a minimum of 2-3 days in the office required.
