Job Description

Palladium, a global leader in delivering Positive Impact, is seeking an experienced Accountant to join their team for an anticipated USAID-funded economic growth program in Kenya. The program is set to commence in 2023 and will focus on accelerating agriculture-led growth through partnerships with major agricultural firms and expansion of smallholder farmer out-grower schemes.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • – Establish and maintain the project’s financial system, including accounting procedures for invoicing, payroll, and all project expenses
  • – Oversee overall budget management of the project
  • – Liaise with Palladium’s Accounting department, Project Specialist, and Case Leader to manage and troubleshoot project accounting issues
  • – Reconcile project accounting and provide backup documentation of all financial transactions
  • – Establish and maintain electronic accounting tracking mechanisms as per Palladium and USAID standards
  • – Conduct monthly audits of local expenditures, including local bank reconciliation and US dollar expenses
  • – Review all local expenses for billing purposes
  • – Produce accurate and timely financial reports
  • – Maintain all accounting records
  • – Act as the first point of contact with the local bank
  • – Monitor vendor invoices and disburse payments upon approval of the Chief of Party (COP)
  • – Oversee finance and accounting procedures, including reviewing monthly budget reports
  • – Indicate project activity numbers for billings and expenses
  • – Prepare monthly cash forecasts for COP’s review and approval
  • – Oversee the financial aspect of procurement of goods and services, ensuring compliance with Palladium and USAID policies

Requirements:

  • – 3 years of experience in finance and accounting, with a BA preferred
  • – Experience with USAID accounting/financial procedures preferred
  • – Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, especially spreadsheet and word-processing programs
  • – Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and judgment skills
  • – Demonstrated ability to manage confidential information
  • – Attention to detail and ability to effectively and efficiently perform multiple tasks
  • – Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • – Ability to communicate effectively with managers, colleagues, service providers, and clients
  • – Professional and mature demeanor

Location: Nairobi, Kenya
Duration: 5 years (anticipated start in July 2023)
