Role Description
The Laboratory Technologist will play a critical role in supporting academic learning, research activities, and maintaining high-quality laboratory standards within the chemistry department.
Key Responsibilities
Laboratory Management and Operations
- – Design and conduct laboratory tests following standard scientific procedures
- – Supervise and guide students during laboratory and research sessions
- – Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols during practical sessions
- – Manage laboratory supplies and inventory
- – Operate, clean, and maintain specialized scientific equipment
Technical Expertise
- – Handle and operate advanced analytical instruments
- – Proficient in Gas Chromatography (GC) and High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC)
- – Properly segregate and dispose of laboratory waste
- – Maintain detailed laboratory records and documentation
Student Support and Education
- – Provide technical guidance to students
- – Assist in creating a safe and productive learning environment
- – Support research activities and practical learning experiences
Qualifications and Requirements
Educational Background
Bachelor’s degree in:
- – Analytical Chemistry
- – Chemistry
- – Industrial Chemistry
Degree must be from an accredited university
Professional Experience
Minimum 2 years relevant experience in:
- – Research institutions
- – Higher learning environments
- – Accredited laboratory settings
Technical Skills
- – Proficiency in operating scientific equipment
- – GC and HPLC equipment operation
- – Ability to work with minimal supervision
- – Strong attention to detail
- – Excellent problem-solving capabilities
