Job Description

The World Health Organization (WHO) is seeking an experienced Driver to support the establishment of effective WHO country presence and implementation of the WHO country cooperation strategies. This role will be crucial in ensuring harmonized operations with the United Nations country teams and alignment with Member States’ health and development agendas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • – Drive for the WHO Representative and other high-ranking officials, meet official personnel at the airport, and facilitate immigration and customs formalities
  • – Deliver/collect and facilitate the customs clearance of official incoming and outgoing pouches, hand-delivery of mail, parcels, and other heavy items
  • – Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle, including checks on fuel, oil, battery, brakes, tires, and performing minor repairs
  • – Log official trips, daily mileage, fuel consumption, oil changes, greasing, and maintain all required documents and supplies for the vehicle
  • – Procure minor supplies and pick up/deliver payment for telephone/fax bills
  • – Deliver and follow up on the issuance of visa requests, renewal of car licenses, and special permits for the WHO Representative’s Office
  • – Ensure the proper steps are followed in case of involvement in an accident
  • – Perform messenger service within the office as required by supervisors

Requirements:

Education:
  • – Completion of secondary education or equivalent
  • – Possession of a valid professional driving license for light and heavy-duty vehicles
Experience:
  • – Minimum 2 years of professional experience in driving cars
Skills:
  • – Basic mechanical knowledge and skills in operating and maintaining different types of vehicles
  • – Good knowledge of the country’s topography and full proficiency in local traffic regulations
  • – Proven ability to deal with clients with tact and respect for diversity
Language Skills:
  • – Expert knowledge of the local language
  • – Intermediate knowledge of English

Remuneration:

WHO offers an attractive remuneration package for the General Services category, including an annual net base salary starting at KES 1,504,850 (subject to mandatory deductions) and 30 days of annual leave.
