Job Description

Safaricom is hiring a Project Manager to oversee construction and supplies projects for the Safaricom & M-Pesa Foundations. This role will be responsible for planning, managing, and ensuring timely completion of all Foundations’ construction and non-construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • – Scope and cost projects for funding consideration
  • – Review and supervise work of project management consultants
  • – Monitor project implementation for value, quality, and adherence to timelines
  • – Lead project assessment visits and review design reports, BOQs, and tender evaluations
  • – Ensure engagement of professionals for project management
  • – Explore innovative approaches to optimize resources without compromising quality
  • – Guide project teams and committees in project approval and implementation
  • – Ensure consistent costing and scope across projects
  • – Inspect projects, maintain inspection documentation, and track timelines
  • – Review contractor valuations and explore payment automation
  • – Adhere to ISO 26000 standards and evaluate project managers
  • – Prequalify contractors and suppliers
  • – Conduct structural design and analysis per relevant codes and standards
  • – Collaborate with architects and designers for safe and aesthetically fitting designs
  • – Resolve structural issues and professional concerns
  • – Utilize AutoCAD and other drafting software for 2D and 3D structural plans
  • – Research and recommend new and existing material technologies
  • – Review proposed structural engineering changes and address RFIs

Qualifications:

  • – Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, registered with relevant bodies
  • – Minimum 7 years of relevant experience, progressing towards EBK professional registration
  • – Working knowledge of structural design software (AutoCAD, Civil3D, Prokon)
  • – Experience applying design and detailing codes (British and local regulations)
  • – Ability to effectively manage and supervise on-site activities and resolve design-related issues
